Welcome to the monthly Newsletter for St Anthony’s Residential Home.

News this month 

Activities Galore

We have been very Busy at St Anthony’s this month and our residents have had a great time in the Activity Hub, they have taken part in Arts and Crafts Activities,  board games, and sensory resources, there was something for everyone.  

Valentines Treats

On Monday 14 February at St Anthony’s residential home our residents and staff celebrated Valentine’s Day. We commenced the day baking heart shaped biscuits which went down a treat for everyone. We wanted to make it a joyful experience for our residents by hanging  heart decorations, bunting, balloons, and flowers around the home.  Our residents also took part in card making, they loved exchanging valentines cards . 

In the afternoon our ladies and gentlemen thoroughly enjoyed listening to the old musical classics. 

 

Animal-assisted therapy.

This month our residents took part in Animal assisted therapy our beloved family members brought there dementia friendly dogs to join in with our Animal-assisted interventions  activity which  improved there self-esteem and confidence . We observed that the animals have  had a  a calming effect following our pet therapy sessions. 

In House retail therapy 

Our residents also took part in, in house Retail therapy they all thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this activity where our resisents was able to try on and purchase new items , our family members also took part which was really lovely to see.

The primary purpose of bringing them a in house retain therapy session  was to increase their self-confidence and it really did brighten up there day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.

 

This month we also celebrated Shrove Tuesday where our lovely Manager Jo treated our residents to her homemade pancake recipe with all sorts of toppings,  everyone was so excited and fully enjoyed eating them!

One of the residents commented “the home made pancakes reminded me of my mothers pancakes i remember when we were children we would all sit together at the table and choose our toppings”
