Spring at St Anthony's
We have had a great time this spring at St Anthony's! we have enjoyed Easter with activities and chocolates, a couple of the Residents enjoyed a trip to the Pub and we especially enjoyed the Kings Coronation celebrations, we celebrated the day with friends and family, Darren serenaded us with his lovely voice, and the Kitchen provided us with a lovely Buffet.

March was a busy month in our care home including Nutrutuonal and Hydration Weerk, a birthday surprise for one of residents, farm visits and more! Here are our March highlights:
Nutritional and Hydration Week At St Anthony’s
Nutrition and Hydration Week has taken place every March ever since 2012 the purpose of this event is to bring people together to create energy, focus and to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care.
We started of by displaying posters, and information on the importance of good nutritional and hydration around our corridors . We set up hydration stations with orange juice, apple juice, lemon juice, blackcurrant juice fresh water, tea, flavoured tea, ice tea’s , coffee and milk with snacks in our open dinning space where our residents were encouraged to explore there taste buds, followed by a informative activity which our activities coordinator presented on a PowerPoint Presentation.

Happy St Patricks Day
What a wonderful marvellous St Patricks Day we had at St Anthony’s we always enjoy celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, and this year has been no exception. We decorated our home with Irish bunting. Our residents has the opportunity to participate in a variety of arts and Crafts activities. We had Irish themed intergenerational music sensory which they really enjoyed.
Happy Mother’s Day:
We hosted a special coffee morning for our lovely ladies and we couldn’t have asked for more of a special day for our ladies on Mother’s day thank you to everyone who joined us to make the day special it was so lovely to watch everyone make beautiful memories.
One of our lovely ladies, commented that what an amazing event it was me and my family thoroughly enjoyed it, we made some truly wonderful memories and enjoyed all the treats.

News this month
Activities Galore
We have been very Busy at St Anthony’s this month and our residents have had a great time in the Activity Hub, they have taken part in Arts and Crafts Activities, board games, and sensory resources, there was something for everyone.
Valentines Treats
On Monday 14 February at St Anthony’s residential home our residents and staff celebrated Valentine’s Day. We commenced the day baking heart shaped biscuits which went down a treat for everyone. We wanted to make it a joyful experience for our residents by hanging heart decorations, bunting, balloons, and flowers around the home. Our residents also took part in card making, they loved exchanging valentines cards .
In the afternoon our ladies and gentlemen thoroughly enjoyed listening to the old musical classics.
Animal-assisted therapy.
This month our residents took part in Animal assisted therapy our beloved family members brought there dementia friendly dogs to join in with our Animal-assisted interventions activity which improved there self-esteem and confidence . We observed that the animals have had a a calming effect following our pet therapy sessions.
In House retail therapy
Our residents also took part in, in house Retail therapy they all thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this activity where our resisents was able to try on and purchase new items , our family members also took part which was really lovely to see.
The primary purpose of bringing them a in house retain therapy session was to increase their self-confidence and it really did brighten up there day.
Thank you to everyone who joined us.
This month we also celebrated Shrove Tuesday where our lovely Manager Jo treated our residents to her homemade pancake recipe with all sorts of toppings, everyone was so excited and fully enjoyed eating them!
One of the residents commented "the home made pancakes reminded me of my mothers pancakes i remember when we were children we would all sit together at the table and choose our toppings"
